From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the group reach places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Explorers and Planners parties.
Fans can look forward to discovering which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
