It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
