19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's maiden championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.

The win also signifies he has won 21 titles at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional championship, took control to force a final set.

Moutet saved four early-game chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev broke to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
